FATAL INJURY FELL OUT OF TRUCK – MN LAWYER
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has identified the woman who died after falling off the bed of a pickup truck near Lake Andrew. She was from Alexandria Minnesota. The sheriff’s office received a call at 3:36 p.m. Saturday, July 15, reporting a woman had fallen from a pickup truck on Pospisil Drive south of Alexandria. Her husband was driving the pickup when she fell out of it, the sheriff said.Injury cases where someone fell out of a truck or car is a surprisingly frequent occurrence.

In this case, the sheriff said the woman was seated inside the box of the pickup. She was leaning against the passenger side with the tailgate down when the accident occurred. The couple were on Pospisil Drive headed to a shared access on Lake Andrew when she fell. No one else was in the pickup. Alcohol was not a factor, and no charges are expected. The woman had a head injury immediately after the fall, and the caller stated that CPR was in progress.

When deputies arrived, they found her on the roadway with severe head trauma. Despite life-saving efforts, she died at the scene. The woman worked as a nurse at Douglas County Hospital for 34 years. An Echo Press story about their retirement in 2012 said she started as a registered nurse in the intensive care unit and then transferred to the post-anesthesia recovery room for the rest of her 29 years at the hospital. She served as manager of that department for 10 years.
