CAR ACCIDENT INJURY CHIROPRACTOR – ATTORNEYS
People often ask our lawyers whether they should see a chiropractor after a car accident. Sometimes they ask us to recommend a chiropractor for an auto accident injury. As a general rule, our injury attorneys do not recommend any particular treatment or specific doctors to our clients. We want to avoid any appearance that the car accident lawyers are working with the doctors to build the client’s case. Plus, of course, we are lawyers not doctors, so we are really not qualified to diagnose people or recommend treatment.
In general, however, there are a few things to keep in mind about seeing a chiropractor after a car accident. First, our auto accident attorneys know many clients who were helped by a chiropractor and experienced significant pain relief.
At the same time, however, many auto insurance companies are suspicious and hostile to chiropractic treatment. They may think the treatment is ineffective, or that the chiropractor is overcharging. Therefore, they may resist paying the chiropractor’s bills. For that reason, we usually recommend clients reevaluate their car accident chiropractic treatment after a few months. If you are getting better and it looks like the chiropractor will solve the problem, you should continue and finish the treatment. However, if the injury does not appear to be healing and you are only getting temporary relief after each chiropractic appointment, you should consider looking into other types of treatment.
GETTING CHIROPRACTIC BILLS PAID FROM CAR ACCIDENT
Our top car crash lawyers have represented hundreds of people injured in a car accident who treat with a chiropractor. No-Fault insurance is supposed to pay for chiropractic bills. If the auto insurance company refuses, we are often successful in forcing them to pay through the arbitration process. However, many no-fault arbitrators also limit the amount of chiropractic care they will find reasonable. This is another reason you will want to keep evaluating as you go.
Another factor a car accident injury attorney will want you to consider is that your automobile no-fault benefits are usually limited to $20,000. Therefore, if you do not have health insurance, you will want to monitor how much of the auto insurance is being used with the chiropractor. You may want to have other types of treatment later. Therefore, the money you spend with the chiropractor will leave less for other treatments.
