Car Accident Lawyer Head On Collision

MN CAR ACCIDENT LAWYER – OTHER DRIVER LOOKING AT PHONE CAUSED HEAD ON CRASH

In the last year, each auto accident lawyer in our office has had several serious cases of a head-on collision. Usually, a driver was texting or looking at their phone and crossed over the center line, hitting an oncoming car. These are terrible crashes, producing very bad and in some cases catastrophic injury. Despite improved safety features in the cars, our attorneys have seen more head on crash cases in Minnesota than ever. In one head-on car crash, our lawyer’s client had the steering column pushed into her leg, crushing two bones. Unfortunately, that type of injury leaves permanent impairments.

Watch, the video below, obtained by the MN state patrol. A dashcam equipped car was able to record an oncoming car that crossed the dividing line. As you can see, the car then barreled down the center of the wrong lane. It actually looks like an attempt to teach both drivers and any of their passengers how to get killed in a car accident. The “suspected distracted driver” apparently made it all the way to the rumble strip on his/her left side before correcting back into the proper lane.

AVOIDING HEAD ON COLLISION

Fortunately, the driver of the dashcam-enabled car smoothly swerved onto the shoulder to avoid a head on collision. More importantly, nobody was injured. When a car accident lawyer in our office gets a head-on collision case, we wish we could get video like this. It would be great to show how terrible the other driver was driving. In most cases, there are distracted because of texting or looking at their phone. Of course, there are also other causes of a head on crash. For example, we have had cases where the other driver fell asleep at the wheel. Also, cases where a parent is dealing with a child in the back seat.

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety says distracted driving factors into twenty five percent of Minnesota vehicle crashes. Even worse, it kills an estimated 70 people a year. That number might be a bit lower this year thanks to some heads-up driving from whoever sent this video into the State Patrol. Watch the video. Of course, NOT if you’re driving.
