The incident happened at Dakota Yeast LLC.
At approximately 9:32 a.m. Thursday, April 19, the worker was unloading hydrous ammonia from his semi truck. “As he took a safety cap off a coupler, it sprayed,” explained a rescue worker from the Fire Department. “Then, pressure from the coupler sprayed him.” The hydrous ammonia sprayed him in his facial area resulting in a chemical burn, the Sheriff’s Office stated.
After this horrible burn injury at work, the man was transported by ambulance to the hospital with serious injuries. From there, he was transported by Sanford AirMed to Sanford Health. According to the sheriff, this incident remains under investigation by (OSHA).
