SEMI TRUCK HIT CAR – ACCIDENT REPORTED
The Minnesota State Patrol reported today that one person was hurt after a two-vehicle (truck car) crash early Monday morning in Freeborn County. The accident happened at the intersection of Highway 65 and 160th Avenue. A northbound semi collided with the westbound car. The driver of the car was injured, but not critically injured. The driver of the semi truck was most likely not injured.
This accident happened around 1:00 a.m. The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office and Gold Cross Ambulance assisted at the scene. There was no further information about the cause of the semi-truck accident, however our lawyers have worked on several cases where the truck driver doesn’t take regular breaks and is just too tired to have good reaction time on the road resulting in the truck hitting a car. The semi truck driver may fall asleep at the wheel, or his reaction time is just too slow because he is so tired.
When a semi truck hits a car, an attorney from our office will look carefully at the driver’s log and compare it to the records of the locations where he stopped to verify the driver’s account because the log books are sometimes falsified. That is one step among many that is part of our investigation in a semi truck accident case.
